Lightning strikes, the sky recedes
Behind a blanket of low, dark clouds,
Illuminated by a single streak of jagged rage -
Oh, how I long for peace!
Thunder rattles the fabric of Nature’s kingdom,
And then the downfall.
Rain-spattered foliage emerges before my view
As I survey the bleak landscape of Kilmarnock Copse,
A wooded mound in raw, unlived in terrain.
Unlived in? How wrong could I be!
For there resides all life -
Vibrant, pulsating, celebrating the moment,
Drinking deep the nectar of Mother Earth’s plentiful bounty.
And lo, a semi-circle of multi-coloured light
Curves its radiant beams of splendour,
Enfolding hill and valley in shimmering obedience.
The gently falling drops of rain subside and peace descends
Upon Kilmarnock Copse and its surrounding habitat.
Oh God, how wonderful is Nature, how pure, how bright!
Bring me into Her company and let me feel
The warm embrace of Her timeless Love,
For any and all who walk this precious Globe -
Every step a treasured memory,
An artefact enshrined in glory,
No matter whether good, bad or neither,
Her presence makes it great.
So thanks be to God for all Her grace and compassion.
My time will shortly come to return
To the basic cycle where all are thrown together
In the juggernaut of Karmic experience,
For better and, if necessity demands, for worse,
But never for nothing.
This hymn to Goddess Gaia is my humble offering.
I long for Her release from a man-made prison
In which she allows Herself to be confined.
Oh God I pray for this to change.
