Channelling is not for everyone. Healing, prayer, mantra and pranayama can be far more beneficial spiritual practices to pursue and focus upon, and also much safer.
Having said that, it is for me. For over 30 years, as well as my other practices, I have channelled guides from higher realms, using clairaudience and telepathy. I used the practices taught by my spiritual master, Dr. George King, to develop those abilities and discussed my experiences with him on several occasions. It is vital to be able to discriminate between your imagination and a genuine communication from an external source, and you would probably need a very experienced teacher to enable you to do this reliably. Concentration is the key to all forms of spiritual development, channelling included. Even the deepest states of meditation are a result of intense, unwavering concentration with complete mental and emotional control. I am not at this level, so I have to work very hard indeed to remain focused and to avoid alteration, by my conscious mind, of the messages I receive. It is not easy, and I would question either the accuracy or the quality of anyone who claims that it is. The following quotation by Dr. George King from a lecture entitled 'Levels of Consciousness – the Spirit World', which he delivered on 12 February 1965 says it all: "Of course, in all types of communication through a medium, unless this medium has had at least, I would say – if they are normal terrestrials – several lives of strict discipline, then you have very, very poor type of communication with any guide. "You have something like, depending on the personality of the medium, but generally about 75% of the medium and 25% of the guide – unless they have had strict training. "Any medium who has had 10 or 15 years strict yoga training in this life, before they were ever interested – or before they ever started communication – you may get 50/50. In some cases you might get 25% medium and 75% guide – in some cases. "There have been rare cases at odd times when you have got about 98% guide and 2% medium. They are very rare. They are pretty special people. But it has happened. It has happened on a few occasions. Not very many." This quotation is referring to trance mediums who are used by spirit guides. I do not use this type of trance and am very careful only to share communications which I have received telepathically if I am confident that they are accurate as a result of very intense concentration. I think channelling goes wrong when it is not done with sufficient focus or when an unreliable form of trance is used. Every now and then I put different examples of them in this section. You will notice that several of these messages relate to Dr George King and The Aetherius Society. This is not surprising given my life's work as a disciple of Dr King and, since his demise, one of the leaders of The Aetherius Society. I have channelled an unusual number of different communicators, sometimes receiving only one message from each of them. I attribute this to my position in The Aetherius Society and their interest in its work, and particularly in Dr George King, rather than to a personal connection with me. Often these communicators are not interested in giving their names, particularly those on higher realms, but sometimes I have been able to obtain these. I had not heard of them all before (certainly in this life), but after I ascertained their identities I discovered more about some of them online. I do not regard these communications as teachings per se, but I have found them to be a source of friendship, encouragement and inspiration, and I hope you do too. With blessings. Richard |
